FATHOM

Seamound/Seawreath

October 12, 2024

I enjoy playing within constraints, and as the saying goes, ‘Time and tide wait for no one.’ The flood was literally lapping at my boots as I created the seamound on the mudflat using spent eelgrass, spent bull kelp stipes, clamshell pieces, oystershell, a barnacled stick, rocks, driftwood, and one shard of seaglass.

Within hours, the rising tide subsequently lifted the seamound, gently transforming it into a floating seawreath that the current sent sailing into the Salish Sea.
