Tides are one of the most reliable phenomena in the world. While humans have developed sophisticated instruments to track them, the instrument below is not one of them, being somewhat more rustic than the app on my phone.
Speaking of sophisticated technology, centuries before the advent of modern mapping and GPS, earlier peoples developed complex instruments for seafaring. That ingenuity continues today with the Swinomish Tribal Community, who are leading the way in demonstrating indigenous practices and initiatives that demonstrate responsible stewardship of our waterways.
